Core Duo Pentium 1.86 = 1.86 4 ... There is no direct correlation of speed. You can not compare that way. A Core Duo processor is like two Pentium 4 chips built into one. A 2.0Ghz Core Duo is the same speed as a 2.0Ghz Pentuim 4, but it can run two programs simultaneously. Program 1 can operate at 2.0Ghz and Programme 2 can also operate at 2.0Ghz. In the Pentium 4, Program 1 and 2 of the program is to divide the 2.0Ghz between them. Multitasking is faster on the Core Duo, though some programs could not be. Some programs are designed to operate with two processors, and these programs will be very fast. Unfortunately, the most common programs are only designed to use a processor and not accelerate. In addition, the Core Duo processor used is a bit more advanced than a Pentium 4, so it might be a little faster through Pension - even with older applications.
