Which is better: a dual-core laptop AMD X2 or Core Duo?
Laptop X2 Dual-Core Mobile (HP) was just published in my local Office Depot DVD recorder 800 while the Core Duo laptop (IBM Lenovo) is only 700 with DVD burner. Is twice Core X2 5000 + laptop actually much better than a Core Duo. Everything else on both laptops are more or less the same. The Core Duo 1.66 GHz is lower. I do not know what the speed of the X2 is just the number is Mobile Turion 64 X2 TL-50
Way to go, these are great deals to be found! Recapitulation X2 TL-50 runs at 1.6GHz, however, supports simutaneous 32 and 64 bit. The chip uses less energy and is future proof (If you try Windows Vista, you will know why) The disadvantages are 64-bit chips are running a little hotter and as it is using more resources (CPU, RAM and hard disk) that attracts more energy too. Intel Core Duo is a great muti-Tasker, use little energy, and 4 MB of cache (shared) will go very far. Con is that it is expensive, very expensive for newer models. Vista is designed graphics intensive, so a 64-bit AMD running on a laptop makes no sense from your hard disk will not be able to keep up anyway. Go Portability and stick with Intel and Windows XP Pro
