Can you see digital cable for free over the airwaves?
From what I understand, the HD broadcast channels through the waves can be picked up with a good antenna and an HDTV. Once all channels are digitized, would you be able to get cable channels through of radio waves as well? And if you have to pay, how cable companies know where you are getting your issue? Does your TV has an identification number or something that is passed back to them?

Sometimes the cable system signal leakage enough that an antenna can receive the signal, but when this happens, the cable company is supposed to fix drain. > And if you have to pay, how cable companies know where you are getting your broadcast from? You must pay television cable. Cable companies have nothing to do with broadcasting, except to send its programming through its cable system. They do not know and can care less what air emissions you look. > Does your TV have an identification number or something that is passed back to them? No. But Some cable boxes have an identification number that is used by cable systems. Services like pay per view that is limited to customers for them.
